What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We require a credit card to schedule appointments. There is a Same Day Cancellation, No Show, and Late Arrival resulting in rescheduling your appointment policy fee of $25.00 should any of those occur. So be sure to call 301.657.2372 or email firstname.lastname@example.org the day or evening before your appointment date to avoid the fee. This policy is in place to ensure all clients have a fair chance at scheduling an appointment with your waxer. Thank you in advnance for your cooperation.
Is there anything I should tell my Esthetician before the waxing begins?
You will fill out a detailed consent form at your first visit that will help inform your waxer of your allergies, product use, medications, etc... Be sure to give accurate answers to these questions as they can affect your skin's sensitivity level and can be harmful. You will need to inform your waxer if anything changes on your consent form at the time of each visit.
Is there anything I can do to prepare for a bikini wax?
Trim Before your appointment. Make sure your hair is approximately 1/2 of an inch long (not longer). Just make sure you trim before coming in if necessary as we do not trim at Cera. If you normally shave, stop at approximately 2-3 weeks before coming in for a bikini wax to ensure your hair is long enough to be waxed (1/2 inch).
Please be sure to use a complimentary Fem Wipe upon arrival prior to your treatment. Your waxer thanks you in advance.
You may choose to take advil, or something of the sort, approximately 20 minutes prior to your appointment. Some clients feel this helps minimize discomfort, but results will vary with each client. We have numbing gel available for purchase at Cera. You will need to apply the gel 15 minutes prior to your appointment, so be sure to arrive early enough to purchase and apply. Results will vary with each client.
Is there anything I should AVOID BEFORE my wax appointment?
You will want to avoid large amounts of caffeine or alcohol, since both can cause your skin to be more inflamed and sensitive. Avoid tanning (both in direct sunlight and/or tanning beds) for 24-48 hours prior to your wax treatment. We will not be able to wax over sunburned skin. If you are having a Facial waxing treatment, you will need to avoid any exfoliating product for 5 days prior to your appointment and approximately 3 days after your appointment (this includes, but not limited to, Retin-A, Differin, acne products...).
Is there anything I should AVOID AFTER my wax appointment?
You will want to avoid working out, tanning (both in direct sunlight and/or tanning beds), pool/jacuzzi, exfoliating for 48 hours after your wax treament. Your skin is more sensitive and prone to bacteria right after being waxed, so proper aftercare is essential for a safe result.
What type of wax is used for Bikini waxing?
We use high quality Hard Wax for bikini waxing treatments (includes "Good Girl, Curious, and Vixen"). Hard wax is more gentle on these sensitive areas and does not adhere to the skin, simply shrink wraps around the hair itself to result in a more pleasant experience.
What is the difference between the wax treatments Good Girl, Curious, Vixen?
We offer wax Bikini waxing for Women only. "Good Girl" = Basic clean up of the outer sides and top. "Curious" = Extended Bikini, a deeper clean up of top and sides (does not include labia or backside). "Vixen" = Full Brazilian and removes all of the hair from the labia and back side. You will need to inform your waxer Before your treatment starts if you would like to leave a strip or a triangle in the front, otherwise your waxer will routinely remove everything.
Do you offer Male waxing?
We do offer waxing for men, however, we do not offer Male Brazilian waxing. We are in search of a place to recommend to you, once we find one we will update this answer. Please refer to the 'Men Treatments" section of the website for a full listing. If you are doing any chest, back, shoulder, abdomen waxing it is recommended that you use our "Mojito Man Body and Face Cleanser" for a few days after your appointment to prevent or minimize any bumps that may occur.
Do you double dip?
Absolutely NOT...we do not double dip on ANY areas. We use one stick per dip, and then it’s thrown away. We take extra care to be clean and professional. You will notice the difference.
Is there parking available?
There is street and parking lot meter parking. You can choose to use coins or register your car and payment info at goparknow.com
How is Cera different than other spas?
We specialize in one thing only - WAXING. We use high quality strip and hard wax for our treatments. Upon your check in, you can choose the type of music you would like during your treatment and choice of beverage. Upon check out you will have a choice of chocolate or mixed nuts. It is our goal to ensure that the studio is very clean, you receive consistent results, and leave feeling like you had an experience not just a treatment!
What can I do after a waxing appointment to soothe my skin?
We apply a post-wax serum directly after your treatment that is enriched with various essential oils to act as a natural antiseptic and soothes the skin. If you experience extended redness we find that applying hydrocortisone cream can help and/or cool compresses. Do not exfoliate your skin for 48 hours after your waxing treatment. After the initial 48 hours post waxing, we encourage exfoliation approximately every other day to inhibit ingrowns. We carry organic, vino therapy sugar scrubs and various products for home use. Ask your waxer for a home care regime designed just for you!
How long should I wait to book my next appointment?
In most cases, you are ready for your next bikini wax treatment every 3-4 weeks (depending on the speed of your hair growth). Make sure the hair is at least a 1/4 of an inch when grown out from waxing. Your waxer will help establish a treatment plan that is best suited for Your hair growth.
What are the benefits of waxing over shaving?
When a person shaves it cuts the hair at a blunt angle causing stubble. Shaving does not pull the hair out at the root so the hair begins to grow back within hours. Waxing removes hair at the root, and after consistent waxing the hair begins to grow in finer. When you first start waxing, you do have to remember that you have a few stages of hair growth. At times, when you come in for a wax, you may be between cycles and re-growth of hair may appear quicker until we get it all on the same cycle. Once this occurs, in most cases, you should have a period of 2 weeks before your hair starts to grow back.
